The ROBOT Rules

The rules for the robots apply to both the BASIC and ADVANCED tracks across all divisions.

Size

  • Height:  No Limit

  • Width:  No Limit

  • Length:  No Limit

  • Weight:  No Limit

Motors / Engines

  • Number:  No Limit

  • Size:  No Limit

  • Type:  No Restrictions

Propulsion

  • No Restrictions - May be wheeled, tracked, walk/crawl, roll, etc.

Sensors

  • Number:  No Limit

  • Size:  No Limit

  • Type:  No Restrictions

Programming

  • Language:  No Restrictions

  • Must be self-contained and completely autonomous

    • No off-board influence such as remote control, blue tooth, voice recognition, etc.​

Materials

  • Anything is acceptable as long as it is not hazardous, dangerous, noxious or atrociously odoriferous

  • Decorations are highly encouraged but must not contain anything profane or obscene

Power Supply

  • Must be self-contained during the race

    • No cords or off-board power supplies, fuel lines to separate tanks, fans to push a sail, etc.​

  • May use regular alkaline, lithium, rechargeable, or any other type of batteries if so desired

  • May use mechanical means such as rubber bands, springs, compressed air, etc.

Navigation

  • Must "follow" the line

    • Not programmed to dead reckon a course while ignoring the track line​

    • Multiple re-positioning attempts of a robot to make it go around a corner when it can only travel in a straight line by itself is not considered following the course

  • Must not damage the surface of the track

    • No spiked wheels or tracks​

    • Should not leave markings or residue

    • Any robot damaging the facility or track surfaces will be disqualified
